Children's class components

In each class children explore yoga through an opening activity such as a welcome song, a team building activity, and/or discussion of a yoga principle; breathwork to calm, focus or energize; songs and/or chants; warm up activitiesyoga poses, sometimes doing group or partner poses or pose sequences; games; relaxation/visualization; and a closing activity such as a song. chant and/or reflection on the class

As a 'tie-in', my older students make journals at the start of each 6-week session, which they spend time in at the conclusion of each class. They are encouraged to draw and/or write about what they learned, how they felt or what their favorite part of the class was!

As a 'take away', my younger students may be sent home with yoga pose coloring sheets to color, practice at home and  possibly to teach someone in their family.  I also like to send home 'Yoga News' to my younger school groups which informs the parents what we did in class that day to encourage dialog around and/or demonstrations of some of things we did in class!
